With five No. 1 singles, six No. 1 albums, five American Music Awards, and six Grammys, The Eagles are often considered one of the most successful rock bands of the 1970s. Their albums Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) and Hotel California ranked in the top 3 highest selling albums as recently as 2006. The band sold more than 150 million records worldwide, with 100 million sold in the US alone. With mega-popular singles such as “Desperado” and “Tequila Sunrise,” The Eagles have made a lasting impression on the landscape of rock music. As many bands do, The Eagles had one hit that defined them as a band, 1977’s “Hotel California.” Since its release, this single has weaved itself into the very fabric of American culture, becoming one of the most popular rock songs of all time. The Eagles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and continue to tour today featuring numerous guest members.
