Before he was the guitarist for the wildly successful rock band that shared his last name, Eddie Van Halen was just a kid with a drum set. After hearing his brother, Alex, playing his drums, Eddie made the executive decision to officially trade his kit for Alex’s electric guitar. With a successful career as one of the most brilliant, most innovative guitar players of all time, it’s safe to say that Eddie made the right decision. Known for his wild red, white, and black signature guitar and his signature finger-tapping style of solos, Eddie Van Halen is consistently in the conversation for the best musician to ever pick up the instrument. Eddie achieved massive success with his band, Van Halen, and has lent his talents to many recording artists, most famously laying down the guitar solo for Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” in 1982.
